Anser Hires an Assistant Education Director
We are excited to announce that Anser has hired Abby W-Nichols to serve in the newly created role of Assistant Education Director. Some very high quality candidates submitted writing pieces and completed an extensive interview process including interviews with students, board members, parents, teachers, student support staff and administrative staff. Abby was the top choice among the applicants and we look forward to beginning to work with her in this new role that is made possible due to Anser’s expansion. Please read Abby’s introductory letter to learn more about this Anser Crew Leader starting a new journey within our school.
Dear Anser Crew,
I am excited to both introduce myself and for many, reintroduce myself. My name is Abby W-Nichols, and I am currently a junior high Crew Leader and the English teacher. However next school year, I will be embarking on a new adventure as Anser’s first Assistant Education Director. The position is much like a vice principal with an Anser twist.
Many professional experiences have brought me to this position. I earned my Masters of Education: Curriculum and Instruction and English teaching credential from the University of San Diego in 2015. I taught in San Diego for two years before deciding to move home to Boise. I joined the Anser Crew in 2017, and over the last five years I have grown as an educator in countless ways. While my main responsibility has been to teach junior high, I have also been on the Covid Response Team, the Instructional Leadership Team, the Visioning Team, and more. Representing the staff and students on these different teams are what sparked my interest in pursuing administration. I am currently enrolled at Northwest Nazarene University completing a specialization in Education Leadership, and I am so excited to be taking this next step in my career.
I am very passionate about how we do school at Anser. Crew, adventure, and service have always been what I love most about being a teacher here. With my junior high Crew, I have screamed down zip lines, made sandwiches for the Corpus Christi House, and been amazed by all my students have achieved. I am excited to continue supporting how we do school in my new position.
I live a very fun-filled life outside of school as well. My support system includes my husband, Shane, who I have been married to since October 2021; my parents, born and raised Idahoans; and my sister, my brother-in-law, and two hilarious nephews. During the summer, I love camping along the Salmon River, seeing how many zucchini, tomato, and dahlia plants I can grow in my small backyard, and trying new recipes. Throughout the year, I relax by riding bikes on the Greenbelt, and watching tv shows that make me laugh. I appreciate my free time as it refreshes and rejuvenates me.
I have so much gratitude for my junior high Crew past and present. Moving into this new position is going to be a big shift in my life, but I am excited to begin working with the students, families, and teachers in all grade levels here at Anser.
Thank you,
Abby W-Nichols
