Community Feedback Requests ACHD is seeking feedback about about an additional access point for pedestrains and bikers to safely cross Chinden at 43rd. "We are reaching out for public comment about the proposed bicycle and pedestrian crossing across Chinden Boulevard at 43rd Street. Currently, Chinden Boulevard poses a significant barrier from the Boise Bench to the Greenbelt to people walking and biking due to high motor vehicle volumes, the five-lane cross section, and limited locations for crossings. To address these challenges a pedestrian hybrid beacon (PHB) is being proposed across Chinden Boulevard at 43rd Street." Please take a moment to read more about the proposal and submit your feedback at the link below. Thank you. |

| Read Across America Week! Kindergarten and 1st Grade crews celebrated last week with crazy socks, crazy hair, dressing up like their favorite Dr. Suess character. Some of our Kinder crews were listened to a couple of our Garden City Police officers read a book aloud. Many crews were able to see authors present about the writing and creative processes as well as hear about new books. It was a great week celebrating literacy! |

Spotlight on 6th Grade's Time at MOSS (McCall Outdoor Science School) We are highlighting a few of our 6th Graders reflections on the week up at MOSS! "I loved MOSS and I love nature even more, so being able to be outside with my friends and my teachers was a very fun experience, but the time I felt connected to the natural world was probably the first day we got there because it was the first time I've been to MOSS. It was so pretty when we arrived." - Iysla Cooper, 6th Grade "My goal for MOSS was: βWhile at MOSS I will use Courage to try new things. For example, I want to try new foods, work with people I don't always work with, and learn in a different way.β I think I completed my goal. One reason is because I had never used snowshoes before and I used them everyday at MOSS." -Scarlet Burack, 6th Grade "A time that I was challenged was our last field day when we were studying our inquiry question. Our group was split into two and I was with Hollis, Henry, and Silas. We were digging a snow pit and analyzing how many layers of different snow there were in the snow pit. We measured how thick each layer was, how cold each layer was, and the shape of the snowflakes in each layer. What made this very hard was that I was the scribe while it was dumping snow, so my hands were absolutely frigid. I persevered through this by putting my hands in my gloves whenever I could. On Wednesday our group did research on the lake and had to drill a hole in the ice with an auger. It was very hard to drill the hole because the auger needed lots of weight on the top of it and all the kids were too small to get that much weight on top. In the end, none of us could have done it by ourselves. I felt proud of myself when our team was able to break the auger into the lake." -Jai Ickles, 6th Grade "My advice to kids going to MOSS next year would be: Don't be afraid. It's really fun." -Ronan York, 6th Grade Click on the picture below for a 60 second recap of the 6th graders week! |

2nd & 3rd Grade Crews Art Exhibition We are excited to announce that 2nd & 3rd Grade art will be on display in their hallways the art through March 29th. Only having 2 days on display just wasn't enough time! Art makes our hallways so much more engaging for all, we appreciate our Art Department- Jenna and Anne- so much! For this project the 2nd & 3rd grade artists were given open options to create a work of their choice. They were encouraged to find inspiration from their focus on nature, pollinators, and plant studies to create work utilizing any of the materials they've explored to date in the Art Lab. Crews were able to select from a variety of mediums to create their piece including the drawing, collage, painting, and printmaking center. The aim in creating a student-led art show is to ignite an authentic sense of craftsmanship and personal investment by the artists. By giving them choice in not only what they create, but what they create with allows their talent and individual style to shine through in each piece. Please enjoy each student artist's statements that they wrote! Thank you for choosing Anser. Thank you for supporting the 2nd & 3rd Grade crews! |
