Renewal Days - A note from Heather Dennis, our Executive Director. Friday we have the first Renewal Day of the school year. Every person (large and small) needs opportunities in their life to rest, to reflect and to re-energize. Think about how nature and the seasons provide a model for times of restoration that lead to times of growth. You can't have the new growth of spring, without first having the dormancy of winter. By providing this time for our staff and for our students we are committing to building a mindset of renewal into our school culture. All staff have been challenged to step back from work on Friday and to find an activity that will allow themselves to recharge. What helps you to renew? What helps your children renew? For me its time in nature! My camping buddy Olive and I will be enjoying some nature this weekend. We hope you will join us in finding some time for renewal - whatever that looks like for you. |

We are crew! Each year, kindergartners engage in a year-long study of birds. The Bird Expedition is a great introduction to expeditions at Anser and a fantastic point of connection for this age group because birds are readily experienced in everyday life. The Bird Expedition’s guiding questions are:
1. What makes a bird a bird? 2. Why protect birds? Expeditions guide crew fieldwork. Kinder crews joined the Intermountain Bird Observatory for a magically scientific introduction to bird banding! So many wonderful moments to share. Observing birds, on a beautiful day in one of the most beatiful Boise settings. Check out this video of a bird being released. One of the best slow motion videos we've seen! Thank you to the Kindergarten crew leaders, our bus drivers, volunteers and crew members! |

Anser's Annual Drive has a goal of raising $150,000 to pay for Adventure, Service, Fieldwork, Labs- all of the enriching, challenging and impactful opportunities your students get only at Anser. $150,000 is a stretch for us as a community, but we can meet this goal if everyone can contribute in a way that is meaningful to their family. We've asked our Anser families to consider a $25 monthly pledge per student as a way fill this gap in our school funding. We've seen many families making a $25 or $50 per month pledge to help us meet this goal! Please consider joining your fellow Anser families by pledging today! |

After School Session B ACTIVITIES REQUESTS NOW OPEN! We are having a blast with all the kids (and adults) participating in Session A After School Activities! Unbelievably, it's time to get ready for the next session! We are so excited to share with you all the fun options for Session B which will be running from 3:30-4:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (last pick up time at 5:00) from the week of November 7th to the week of December 14th with no programming during Thanksgiving Break. Here's the activity request form and a few important instructions: - If your student signed up for D&D, Pokemon, Ukulele or Choir in Session A, they remain on the roster. There are still open spots to fill which is why we are re-offering them. (If you want to withdraw your child from one of these, just pop Jess an email at jmcginnis@ansercharterschool.org and your feedback is also welcome!) All other activities, including Stay and Play, are starting fresh to allow new kids a chance to sign up.
- Students who have not yet participated in an after school activity will be given first preference this session, along with students whose parents are volunteering and/or instructing. Sign up to volunteer here folks- it's a blast! After that spots will be filled in the order that requests are received until the activity is filled. We will attempt to reoffer activities that have significantly more requests than spots. This form will close at 8am on Monday the 23rd. New rosters will be shared in the Flight Plan on Thursday, October 26th. Individual emails will not be sent so please check the rosters- thank you!
Again, the request form will be closing on Monday, October 23rd at 8 am so get your requests in this weekend! Thanks all! |
