Crews and families please make sure we are winter weather ready when attending school. If the Boise School District closes, Anser will also be closed. We are Crew! AMS crews have been working hard. 7th and 8th graders participated in Solutionary Projects leading up to winter break.

Their guiding questions were: What in the world is unfair? Why do we need solutionaries and solutionary thinking? How can I create a project to have an impact?

Thinking critically about the root causes of real world problems encouraged learners to look at the problem with a solution based mind frame. They then worked on designing and executing a project with an authentic solution to a problem they care about.
Crew members reached out to our community and interviewed, connected and toured to develop and identify solutions and how they can instigate change. A few examples of projects include; making and delivering food to a downtown shelter, creating a small aquaponic system, tour of the landfill to learn more about recycling and the lifespan of a city landfill. They also had insightful conversations about beauty standards, electric vehicles and domestic violence.

Anser staff all chipped in by transporting, opening up kitchen space, chatting, putting them in touch with personal contacts and in general being enthusiastic about the process!

Entrepreneurs at Anser In Captain Richard's AMS Makers Space more entrepreneurial pursuits are happening! Bo and Evan, 8th grade crew members, put together a pitch for their Simply Sugar lip scrubs and are presenting their product to a local favorite, Dragonfly! This quote from Evan's mom highlights what we are working towards here at Anser. "Thank you, Anser for these important expeditionary learning experiences that give students the agency and opportunity to hone project management skills - these kids are nimble problem solvers! And thank you local businesses for supporting these ventures!

Parent Night to Review AMS Student Well-Being Survey Data

As a follow up to the  Communities for Youth Mental Health Survey that our AMS Students took this fall, we are inviting all families and community members to review the results of the data and to look at how we can support mental health for young people in our school community.  We have scheduled this for Monday, February 5th at 5:00pm in The Commons here at Anser.  We will have childcare provided for younger children but we ask you to leave your AMS students at home since there will not be supervision.  In order to help plan for numbers, please RSVP using this google form.  If you have any questions, please reach out.
