JH Adventure: Ropes Course Fun!

Our JH students finally made their way up to McCall this week to complete the ropes course challenge at Quaker Hill! While these trips may be fun, they are about so much more. “Adventure bolsters student engagement and strengthens students’ courage. EL Education promotes the kinds of adventures that create opportunities for leadership and collaboration as groups of students and teachers face challenges both alone and together.” From the EL Education Core Practices

Our students pushed each other out of their comfort zones, and worked hard in teams to complete the course. We are so proud of how well everyone did, and love seeing our students challenge and encourage each other through difficult tasks.

Many of our Anser students branch out from their crew to form partnerships with younger and older students in our community. The 4/5 crews met up with their 1st grade buddies and made some beautiful chalk art! Some art was done free hand, and other was done with tape. Next time you stop by campus be sure to check out their art!

Anser Survey-"Communities of Excellence" Grant

We need to hear from you! Anser is required per our Communities of Excellence grant to ask families to complete an annual survey during our grant period. We know that this time of year is incredibly busy for families and we appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey.

Below is a link to a short, confidential survey about our school - would you please complete it by  Tuesday, May 31, 2022 . At least one parent per family is invited to participate in the survey.

Support our 6th Grade Year of Service (SOS)

Each year our 6th grade students focus on service and giving back to our community! Students form groups and pick different projects to fulfill their required service hours.

Quite a few of our students are doing drives to collect items for local organizations which include:

-Animal Toys and Supplies for the Humane Society

-Canned Food for the Idaho Food Bank

-Toys and Books for City Light

If you would like to donate to any of these drives you can drop off items with the front office!

JH Solutionary Projects

Greetings Anser families,

Thank you in advance for supporting some of the JH Solutionary projects this spring. Students in Justice have been designing projects based on a problem they care about and have communicated with community experts and/or stakeholders to understand the needs and refine their projects. Here are a few ways you can contribute to their projects- and to our community! Becky

Hello Anser families,

Our names are Jane, Phoebe, Milena, Acacia, from Jr. high.

Currently, there are 1448 people experiencing homelessness in our county. That is equivalent to 891 households, 272 of which are families with kids. In order to help with this, we are doing a welcome mat, pots, pans, and cleaning supply drive for CATCH, a local organization working on solving homelessness. We have set up a donation bin by the front office, and we would really appreciate you donating. The latest you can bring things in is May 16. Please donate, these people and families really need your support. Thank you.

We (Mila, Tucker, Nex and Mason) are starting a drive for laundry detergent and bleach to help West Valley Humane society prevent spread of illnesses and diseases and to clean everything. We need the detergent and bleach to be pet safe. Humane Society's need them for washing toys and bedding for their animals, and they are in dire need. There will be boxes inside or outside of each classroom, and whichever class collects the most will win a cake! The boxes will be put out on Friday the 6th (5/6) and the drive will continue until Friday the 20th (5/20). The cake will be brought to the winning class on Monday the 23rd (5/23).

We are Quinn and Aaden and we are doing a toiletries drive for the Vineyard Church food pantry. The drive will end May 18th. We need full or small sized toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrush, mouthwash, conditioner, tampons and others. We have boxes around the school with signs on them. They are by classrooms upstairs. We will start on Friday, May 6th.

Hi we are Henry Jack and Dacota.

We are doing a drive for gently used or new sports equipment. Donations will benefit our refugee kid population in Boise. The drive will end on the 17th and we need as many donations as possible. There will be a box by the front office. Thank you.

Hi we are Jayden, Jeronimo and James and we will be hosting a bake sale that will be happening on May 20th and may 23rd to benefit the womens and childrens alliance. The donations we get will be used to purchase gas gift cards to help with the cost of transportation, a big challenge for their clients. The Women’s and Children’s Alliance helps serve victims of domestic abuse. We will have posters placed throughout the whole school on what we are selling and how much they cost. Thank you!

Hi! We are two seventh grade students. Our names are Harper and Elise. Right now there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean. Every single day, 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. For our justice solutionary project we are trying to help reduce the use of plastic bags in Idaho. We are holding a bake sale to raise money to buy reusable bags to sell/give away at grocery stores for shoppers to use instead of plastic bags. The bake sale will be after school on Thursday the 12th of May. Please be there to support us!
