Spring Celebration: Thank You!

Anser’s Spring Celebration was a tremendous success! Together we met Anser’s fundraising goal and had a wonderful chance to spend time together- in person- without masks!  This year’s event would not have been such a success without the support of our many donors, bidders, sponsors, and volunteers.

Please join us in thanking the following people for their volunteer efforts in making the event a success:  Darcy Maupin, Hannah Newbill,Lindsay Biedel, Natalie Keffer, AnnMarie Johnson, Jennifer Cozine, Alissa Lauer, Paola Cooper, Meg, Tim & Alex Tyree, Sarah and Ryan Butler, Colleen Moulton, Misty Kriesler, Kim Conner, Andrea Morris, Mishi Stirling, Amanda Stewart, Sue Omel, Elizabeth Bisgard, Caitlin Robinson, America & Wayne Yorita-Carrion, Jennifer Tatsumi and Amy Holmes.

Thank you to our Anser Community Board, whose members donated $10,000 toward the Fill-A-Need campaign to fund using our new Anser buses for fieldwork, adventure, service- the core practices of EL Education that enrich your child’s lives, help them find their passions, and help them serve their community.

All invoices have been delivered via email and all items are available for pickup in the front office.  Please be sure to pay promptly and pick up your items this week or next.

This year’s Celebration was planned in the fall and winter, as Covid conditions were extreme. We tried to plan an event that didn’t put the school at risk of  losing the venue and caterer expenses, if Covid resurged.  We also envisioned the excitement of being able to tour families through the expansion project As we look toward next year’s Celebration, we are excited to take the things we have learned from this year’s event and combine them with some of our past traditions to plan an event we hope everyone will enjoy!

2/3 Exhibition Night

Our 2/3 crews braved a downpour for their Exhibition Night and they still carried out a beautiful evening! This year their Exhibition Night was held at the M.K. Nature Center, where the students created a map of notable spots to visit. The students also made brochures featuring different pollinators for families to peruse as they walked through the center. Good job 2/3 for making the best of their rainy night!

JH Adventure

Anser Junior High students will be heading to McCall next week to restore our tradition of an Adventure trip to the Quaker Hills Ropes Course! Adventure is a Core Practice of EL Education. While these trips may be fun, they are about so much more. “Adventure bolsters student engagement and strengthens students’ courage. EL Education promotes the kinds of adventures that create opportunities for leadership and collaboration as groups of students and teachers face challenges both alone and together.” From the EL Education Core Practices

As our Junior High students complete the ropes course, they face their fears, overcome their challenges, support each other through defeat and  celebrate each other’s triumph. Afterwards  they  understand that they are  stronger than they know, that they can face and overcome challenges in life, and that they have friends to support them when times are tough. These are the life skills that will support their success in school and beyond.

Kindergarten Exhibition Night

This week our Kindergarten crews also hosted their Exhibition Night right on Anser's Campus! Each student made a poster featuring a different bird which included info about their beak, feathers, and where they live! What a great evening of presentations from Anser's very own bird experts!

Quite a few of our students are doing drives to collect items for local organizations which include:

-Animal Toys and Supplies for the Humane Society

-Canned Food for the Idaho Food Bank

-Toys and Books for City Light

If you would like to donate to any of these drives you can drop off items with the front office!

JH Solutionary Projects

Greetings Anser families,

Thank you in advance for supporting some of the JH Solutionary projects this spring. Students in Justice have been designing projects based on a problem they care about and have communicated with community experts and/or stakeholders to understand the needs and refine their projects. Here are a few ways you can contribute to their projects- and to our community! Becky

Hello Anser families,

Our names are Jane, Phoebe, Milena, Acacia, from Jr. high.

Currently, there are 1448 people experiencing homelessness in our county. That is equivalent to 891 households, 272 of which are families with kids. In order to help with this, we are doing a welcome mat, pots, pans, and cleaning supply drive for CATCH, a local organization working on solving homelessness. We have set up a donation bin by the front office, and we would really appreciate you donating. The latest you can bring things in is May 16. Please donate, these people and families really need your support. Thank you.

We (Mila, Tucker, Nex and Mason) are starting a drive for laundry detergent and bleach to help West Valley Humane society prevent spread of illnesses and diseases and to clean everything. We need the detergent and bleach to be pet safe. Humane Society's need them for washing toys and bedding for their animals, and they are in dire need. There will be boxes inside or outside of each classroom, and whichever class collects the most will win a cake! The boxes will be put out on Friday the 6th (5/6) and the drive will continue until Friday the 20th (5/20). The cake will be brought to the winning class on Monday the 23rd (5/23).

We are Quinn and Aaden and we are doing a toiletries drive for the Vineyard Church food pantry. The drive will end May 18th. We need full or small sized toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrush, mouthwash, conditioner, tampons and others. We have boxes around the school with signs on them. They are by classrooms upstairs. We will start on Friday, May 6th.

Hi we are Henry Jack and Dacota.

We are doing a drive for gently used or new sports equipment. Donations will benefit our refugee kid population in Boise. The drive will end on the 17th and we need as many donations as possible. There will be a box by the front office. Thank you.

Hi we are Jayden, Jeronimo and James and we will be hosting a bake sale that will be happening on May 20th and may 23rd to benefit the womens and childrens alliance. The donations we get will be used to purchase gas gift cards to help with the cost of transportation, a big challenge for their clients. The Women’s and Children’s Alliance helps serve victims of domestic abuse. We will have posters placed throughout the whole school on what we are selling and how much they cost. Thank you!

Hi! We are two seventh grade students. Our names are Harper and Elise. Right now there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean. Every single day, 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. For our justice solutionary project we are trying to help reduce the use of plastic bags in Idaho. We are holding a bake sale to raise money to buy reusable bags to sell/give away at grocery stores for shoppers to use instead of plastic bags. The bake sale will be after school on Thursday the 12th of May. Please be there to support us!
